U.S. Embassy: Inspiring Hundreds of Youth in Saint Petersburg

As part of Russia tour "Achieving The Impossible: A Conversation With Shin Koyamada"on Education USA by the U.S. Department of State in collaboration with KIF Russia, Koyamada first traveled to City of Saint Petersburg to inspire over 250 local Russian youth as a speaker to pursue a higher education and a dream by sharing his personal experience of moving to the United States at age of 18 and achieving his dreams come true.

Saint Petersburg is the second largest city in Russia with its population of over 5.3 million people and a sister city to Koyamada's hometown Los Angeles, CA. Saint Petersburg is home to the Hermitage, one of the largest art museums in the world. In his very limited time in Saint Petersburg, Koyamada first visited the famous Hermitage Museum as well as the Church of the Savior on Blood to learn the history and culture of Russia and was impressed by its rich history and traditions.

At his 20-minute lecture, the students were very welcoming and excited to have him as a speaker and very much inspired by his life story how he made his dream come true. After his speech, he was pleased to answer many questions he's gotten from the audience for over 15 minutes, following his autograph and photo sessions with each attendee for another hour or so at the same venue.

Koyamada was impressed by how well they speak English and how much they were interested in a higher education.
