Women’s Mental Resilience Panel and Screening in LA 🇺🇸
As part of the newly launched Guardian Girls Karate with the World Karate Federation (WKF) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the final event included "Women's Mental Resilience" on mental health for a panel discussion and a special screening of an award-winning short film "Shadow Glass" on October 8th, 2022 at the Terasaki Budokan in Downtown Los Angeles. In the beginning of the event, KIF Global Co-Founders Nia Lyte and Shin Koyamada welcomed audience as the emcees to the final night of the Guardian Girls Karate events, which was kicked off by the VIP Reception Dinner "Karate Night" and "The Signing of New Trilateral Partnerships" at the Official Residence of the Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles.
Followed by Nia and Shin's introductions and welcoming greetings, a Mongolian Cultural Envoy and musician Gankhuyag Natsag gave 10-minute wonderful Mongolian dancing, followed by Battogtokh Erdene who played an amazing Mongolian traditional music with his Mongolian morin huur guitar and Zanabazar Zana Gankhuyag who performed a graceful traditional Mongolian dance.
After the entertaining performance, the opening remarks were made by WKF General Secretary Toshihisa Nagura who introduced about the Karate organization and reiterated the new partnership project Guardian Girls Karate, followed by UNFPA Chief of Strategic Partnerships Mariarosa Cutillo who shared them its global efforts on gender-based-violence and ChimeTV CEO Faith Bautista who briefly introduced ChimeTV, the new and only national Asian American TV channel launching in the United States and also talked about her national efforts and challenges in Asian and Asian American community.
The event continued with a special screening of an 13-minute award-wining short film Shadow Glass, starring Ava Hall and produced by Shinca Entertainment. The film won for “Best Indie Short” and “Best Actress in an Indie Film” at the Los Angeles Film Awards, “Best Indie Film” at the New York Film Awards, “Best Psychological Film” at the Cannes World Film Festival, a “Finalist” at the CanadaShorts Film Festival, “Official Sections” for Tokyo International Short Film Festival and Hollywood Independent Filmmaker Awards and Festival. As the final activity of the night, emcees Shin and Nia welcomed the four panelists on the stage, Moderator Ms. Laura Greenberg (CEO of Alcheme), Ms. Ava Hall (Actress and star of Shadow Glass), Ms. Sakura Kokumai (U.S. Karate Olympic), Ms. Shelly Ritchie (Psychologist from Kentucky). Each shared its powerful story on mental health and resilience based on professional and personal experience.
